Kirk Bible: The Amos G. Atkinson family Bible, with the family records in its center. It originally belonged to a Thomas Kirk. It appears that the Kirk family entries have been cut out. They would have been just above the Amos Atkinson entries at the top of the 1st page of the middle pages.

1900 US Census: There was an Annie Atkinson, b. Aug 1868, MD, operator, boarding with the John Leonhardt family at 9 South Arlington Ave in Balto. Ward 21, District 0271. "Eliseth Ana", dau. of George Washington Atkinson, was born 21 Jun 1868.

Ellysville/Elysville (now called Daniels), about two miles north of Ellicotts Mills, was another mill town on the Patapsco River. The mill there, which manufactured cotton textiles, was run by the Alberton Manufacturing Company in 1860. By 1870 Roger Galvin moved his family to another mill town, Laurel Factory, in what is now called Laurel, Maryland, about halfway between Baltimore and Washington. It too, by that time, was served by the B&O Railroad.
George Nye, a Civil War veteran, served as superintendent of Laurel Mill from 1877 to 1885, during which the mill frequently was closed due to renovations or shortages of manufacturing material.[5][6]

Washington Atkinson's Civil War records
8 Sep 2016: I went in to the National Archives to get Robert Atkinson's and Washington Atkinson's (both sons of Amos Gilbert Atkinson (1806-1852)) Union Army compiled service records. The records were available online there, via Fold3, near the sign-in desk. There was one untitled set for Washington Atkinson consisting of 9 card images. These cards are all copies from muster rolls, for placement in individual soldier files. The following are my notes concerning these cards:
All cards headed: "Wash Atkinson, Private, Co. H, 11 Reg't Maryland Infantry. (100 Days, 1864)."
C1: The envelope containing the muster cards, with a list of 5 card numbers. With "See also 11 Md Inf (1 Year)," at the bottom.
C2: Appears on Company Muster-in and Descriptive Roll of the organization named above. Roll dated: Baltimore, Md. Maryland: 11th REGIMENT INFANTRY
Organized at Baltimore, Md., for 100 days, June 16, 1864. Moved to Monocacy Junction July 1, 1864. Attached to 3rd Separate Brigade, 8th Army Corps, Middle Department, to July, 1864. 1st Separate Brigade, 8th Army Corps, to October, 1864.

Regiment reorganized for 1 year December, 1864. 3 Companies ("A," "B" and "C") were consolidated with 1st Eastern Shore Regiment January, 1865. Company "C" on detached service at Relay House, Baltimore, & Ohio Railroad. Company "I" at Baltimore. Rest of Regiment at Fort Delaware. Mustered out June 15, 1865.
Regiment lost 29 by disease during service.
